5 Things From Patton Oswalt's Parks & Rec Filibuster That Should Actually Happen

If you've been anywhere near the internet lately, you've probably seen the video of Patton Oswalt on a new episode of Parks & Recreation pitching his idea for the new Star Wars movie in a filibuster. Nerdom all over the internet exploded over Oswalt's totally improvised pitch which includes The Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, the Star Wars, Clash of the Titans and the Greek gods. While a Marvel/Star Wars crossover will probably never happen on the big screen, there are some great moments in this rant that we'd all love to see make it to the new Star Wars franchise.

5. Lando Calrissian steals Leia from Han Solo

At the end of the original trilogy, everything is looking good for the couple of Han Solo and Princess Leia. After an entire series of tension between the two, they're finally together at the end, but don't you just hate a happy ending? In his rant, Patton Oswalt describes a scenario in which Lando and Leia are having an affair (Han Solo seemingly knows about it) which has destroyed Han and Leia's happy ending marriage.

4. Brian De Palma writes the opening scroll

As mentioned in the filibuster, legendary director Brian De Palma wrote the opening scroll for the original movies. This sequence has become iconic, and it would be a great nod to the original films to have him write it once more.

3. Jedi Master Luke Skywalker

This should be an obvious addition to the new films, but you never know. Luke Skywalker must be a Jedi master, training young padawans in order to build a brand new generation of Jedi knights. A great added touch is Oswalt's mention of Luke using a refurbished Imperial Destroyer and his father's red lightsaber.

2. The death of Chewbacca

This one would surely be a game changer in the Star Wars universe. Oswalt mentions Han Solo presented the severed head to Luke, however, Chewbacca's death could come about in anyway. This would really shake things up and destroy any rumors of Disney making the new films even more "kid friendly" than the prequels.

1. The resurrection of Boba Fett

There are plenty of extended universe stories about how Boba Fett escaped the sarlacc pit, but seeing it on film for the first time would be truly amazing for die-hard Fett fans. Despite his limited screen time, Boba Fett is by far one of the most beloved characters in franchise history, and his return would bring back a ton of those fans who are already writing off these sequels.
