5 Characters On The Walking Dead Who Should Be Killed Off

The biggest trend in TV drama right now is major character death. All of the big shows on TV are fond of killing characters that we all know and love, and The Walking Dead is no stranger to that, however, the show's main push is the amount of gore. By killing off some more major characters, the writers could set up the group for a much darker, more dangerous drama come Season 4. Many of the significant characters have been killed already, and here are the ones who should be next. (This post contains spoilers up to the most recent episode - Season3, Episode 9)

5. Andrea

After departing from the main group at the end of Season 2, Andrea and her new companion Michonne were discovered by the town of Woodbury, and were introduced to The Governor. Andrea and The Governor have formed an intimate relationship this season, but as things start to go haywire in Woodbury, their relationship has gotten a bit shaky.

Why She Should Die: Everyone is ready for the inevitable showdown between Rick and The Governor, and what better way to incite that confrontation than having The Governor kill the one person who connects the two groups?

4. Hershel

When the group first came upon the idyllic farmhouse, Hershel was very much against allowing them to stay, but as we all know, that all changed. Now a staple of the group, Hershel's skills as a doctor have come in handy time and time again, despite his new handicap.

Why He Should Die: After Dale's demise, Hershel has become to father figure of the group, he's the one Rick goes to for council, which is exactly why he must die. With Rick losing his mind, Hershel's death would throw the group into complete chaos, making for some very interesting plot lines.

3. Maggie
Maggie was another member of Hershel's family on the farm who eventually became a strong member of Rick's group. Her and Glenn's relationship has become a big factor, and after their run in with The Governor, it's uncertain where they currently stand.

Why She Should Die: After letting Daryl walk away with Merle, Glenn is extremely unhappy with Rick, and the death of his girlfriend would certainly push him over the edge, which could cause him to part with the group as well, leaving Rick completely on his own when it comes to able-bodied survivors. And speaking of which....

2. Glenn
Glenn is the one who got Rick out of a deep hole very early on in the series, and has been with Rick ever since. Early on he served solely as the scavenger of the group due to his knowledge of the city, but as time progressed, Glenn has become a major player in the protection and survival of the group

Why He Should Die: As fans of the comic know, Glenn did meet his demise on the page, but the series is almost nothing like the comics, so it's likely he'll survive. However, his contributions to the group are extremely important, and like I said before, without Daryl, Rick surely cannot afford to lose someone like Glenn.

1. Daryl
The tough redneck with a tender heart for middle-aged women and babies, how could you not love Daryl? A master of the crossbow, Daryl is by far the biggest factor when it comes to combat and protection. As of now, Daryl's fate with the group is unknown after he opted to choose his own blood over the people he considered his second family, leaving with Merle at the end of the newest episode.

Why He Should Die: Everyone loves Daryl, there's no denying it. He's written as the most charming, sane character and has thus attracted a huge following among fans of the show, and this is exactly why he has to die.  The writers should take a note out of Game of Thrones' playbook and kill off one of the only characters on the show that people can relate to and love, creating a much darker atmosphere on an already dark show.
